Mar Mathew’s Boys’ Town was started in memory of the 70th Birthday of Mar Mathew Pothenamuzhy, the first Bishop of the diocese of Kothamangalam in a plot of land donated by the diocese. It was blessed by him on 10th January 1977. The I.T.I. (Pvt) was started in 1980. The church was blessed on 3 January 1988 by Mar George Punnakottil, Bishop of Kothamangalam.
